The MSSS and Program Societies
The McMaster Social Sciences Society (MSSS) is the officially recognized student group of McMaster Social Sciences students. In turn, each program or departmental area has a ‘program society’ that runs events and builds relationships within the student community.
McMaster Students Union (MSU)
The McMaster Students Union (MSU) represents the approximately 27,000 ‘full-time’ undergraduate students at McMaster University. All students enrolled in 18 or more academic units are members of the MSU. Please note that the progress units associated with co-op work terms currently do not count towards this total.
Student Representative Assembly (SRA) Open SRA Site
Social Sciences students at McMaster are currently represented by four (4) elected representatives on the MSU’s Student Representative Assembly.
FIrst-Year Council (FYC) Open First-Year Council Site
The MSU’s First Year Council is the representative body for McMaster first year students, aimed at addressing their distinctive needs and concerns.
MSU Clubs Open MSU Clubs Site
The MSU recognizes and supports hundreds of academic, cultural, recreational, spiritual, and issues-based clubs open to participation by McMaster students.

Membership in MAPS Open MAPS Membership Site
The MAPS membership includes all undergraduates registered in fewer than 18 academic units & all students taking courses at the Centre for Continuing Education.
Elected Positions Open MAPS Board Site
MAPS is led by a volunteer Board of Directors elected from the membership for two year terms. The Board may ask for interim directors to fill any vacant seats during the year.
