Co-op In The Faculty Of Social Sciences
Co-operative education (co-op) gives McMaster Social Sciences students the opportunity to integrate paid work experience directly into their academic journey. Through alternating academic and work terms, students gain practical skills, explore career paths, and apply classroom learning in real-world settings.

Which Social Sciences Programs Offer Co-op?
Currently, co-op is available in:
- Economics (Honours BA)
- Political Science (Honours BA)
- Work and Labour Studies (Honours BA)
- Social Gerontology (Honours BA)
- Anthropology (Honours BA)
- Environment & Society (Honours BA)
- Health & Society (Honours BA)
- Sociology (Honours BA)
Students apply during Level I, with the application cycle taking place in the Winter term. Co-op is a structured, transcript-recognized experience that includes three full-time paid work terms, supported by McMaster’s career services and employer partners.
