Hiring a co-op student from McMaster’s Faculty of Social Sciences could make you eligible for the Ontario Co-operative Education Tax Credit – a financial incentive designed to support employers who provide meaningful work experiences to students.
This refundable tax credit allows eligible Ontario employers to claim up to $3,000 per student, per qualifying work term. To qualify, the student must be hired through an approved co-op program and the work term must meet the criteria set by the Ontario government.
If you hire a student from one of the eligible Social Sciences programs listed below, you can request a Letter of Certification to support your claim by emailing Hire Soc Sci or your Social Sciences staff contact.
