Mosaic

What is Mosaic?

Mosiac is McMaster’s main administrative information system, and is used widely by students, staff, faculty, and community members such as job applicants. It is what is known in the working world as an ‘enterprise resource planning’ (ERP) system. Mosaic is a custom platform developed for McMaster use based on PeopleSoft, a program platform designed by Oracle, a major computer technology company.

Mosaic has three main components:

Information Box Group

Campus Solutions

The Campus Solutions component is a student information system used for organizing students, classes, grade submission, and student finances. As a student, for example, you will often use the Student Centre to enrol in courses.

Human Resources

The Human Resources component acts as McMaster’s HR information system (HIR), based on PeopleSoft’s Human Capital Management system (HCM). As a student you can apply for part-time, summer, and new graduate roles using the ‘Job Opportunities’ area.

Finance

The Finance component helps McMaster staff to manage the University’s budget and financing. An integrated tool called Hyperion allows budget managers and finance staff to build budgets, develop forecasts, and report variances. As a student you will rarely use this component unless you take on a Co-op or Work Program role.

Current Opportunities

The Current Opportunities module within Mosaic’s Human Resources component is where you can apply for on-campus roles, including the following:

  • Part-Time Fall-Winter McMaster Work Program Roles
  • Full-Time Summer McMaster Work Program Roles
  • Part-Time Undergraduate Teaching Assistant (TA) Roles
  • Part-Time Research Assistant (RA) Roles

Using the Mosaic Student Centre

In addition to its support of job application and human resources processes, Mosaic is also McMaster students’ main tool for enrolment management. This playlist shows Social Sciences students how to use McMaster’s Mosaic Student Centre, including how to Drop and Add courses in Mosaic
