Community and alumni invited to Oct 2nd Social Psychology course event
Community and alumni participants are invited to participate in an upcoming event supporting experiential learning in a social psychology course.
Dr. Erica Speakman, instructor for the course SOCIAL PSYCH 3Y03: Social Psychology in Action, is hosting a networking night to connect 3Y03 students with members of the community to learn about social or practical problems that impact their organization or the local community, for inspiration and guidance on a real and current issue that they can study. This event follows on a similar networking opportunity in the previous course offering, which was received enthusiastically by both students and community members.
Welcoming local community organizations to campus will help current students to inform their final assignment. The final group assignment asks students to pick a social or practical problem and attempt to solve it using their learning from the course. As opposed to students picking a hypothetical problem, Dr. Speakman is eager to connect these students with community members who may have some real-world examples and considerations that would make excellent subject matter for these final assignments.
This event is taking place on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on McMaster University’s central campus. Room information and wayfinding instructions will be shared ahead of the event. The instructional and alumni staff team will organize community members around the room and encourage students to connect with various attendees.
Would you or your organization like to participate? Please Register for this event by Friday, September 27, 2024.
