Paid “Students as Partners” Wanted for Winter 2026 Teaching Projects

The Students as Partners Winter 2026 Student call is now open for student applicants, and Social Sciences students are encouraged to apply.
Running during two cycles per year, the Student Partners Program (SPP) provides undergraduate and graduate students with paid opportunities to participate as partners with faculty, instructors and staff on projects that contribute to the enhancement of teaching and learning at McMaster.
Projects supported by the SPP provide opportunities to contribute to activities such as: design and development of new courses, creation of resources for faculty and students, and collaboration with staff and faculty partners on research projects related to teaching and learning.
Students of any level are encouraged to apply to the positions listed in the Winter 2026 Project Description Document. Projects run from January to April 2026 and focus on teaching and learning in the classroom.
Select Social Sciences Projects
Social sciences students can apply to any project originating in any faculty. However, several projects originating in the Faculty of Social Sciences or its close partner organizations may be of particular interest to Social Sciences student applicants:
- “Mental Health and Resilience Course Redesign” – (James Gillett, Health, Aging & Society)
- “Missing Meaningful Discussions? Teaching Religious Studies Effectively Online” – (Hanna Tervanotko, Religious Studies)
- “Enhancing Access to Meaningful Experiential Learning Opportunities in Applied Healthcare Ethics” – (Lee De Bie Das, Social Work)
- “Building a Responsive Field Education Program for Black, Indigenous and Racialized Students” – (Rochelle Maurice, Social Work)
- “Enhancing the Vice-Provost (Teaching and Learning) Website” – (Aasiya Satia, MacPherson Institute)
Please review the full list of project descriptions, as interdisciplinary application and collaboration is highly recommended by the faculty and by the Student Partners Program.
