Paid ‘Students as Partners’ Wanted for Summer Teaching Projects

The Students as Partners Summer 2025 Student call is now open for student applicants, and Social Sciences students are encouraged to apply.
Running during two cycles per year, the Student Partners Program (SPP) provides undergraduate and graduate students with paid opportunities to participate as partners with faculty, instructors and staff on projects that contribute to the enhancement of teaching and learning at McMaster. Projects supported by the SPP provide opportunities to contribute to activities such as: design and development of new courses, creation of resources for faculty and students, and collaboration with staff and faculty?partners on research projects related to teaching and learning.
Students of any level are encouraged to apply to the positions listed in the Summer 2025 Project Description Document. Projects run from May to August and focus on teaching and learning in the classroom. This current call has four project streams –the General SPP stream, Course Consultant Partnership Program, Generative AI project stream and an Open Education Resource creation stream. Students can apply to all streams.
Select Social Sciences Projects
Social sciences students can apply to any project originating in any faculty. However several projects originating in the Faculty of Social Sciences or its close partner organizations may be of particular interest to Social Sciences student applicants:
- “MA in Political Science Co-Op Program and Course Redesign” – (Netina Tan, Political Science)
- “Building Resources for Students in the BSW Program” – (Jennie Vengris, Social Work)
- “Social Sciences 2EL3: Career Preparation in the Social Sciences” – (Karen McGarry & Mark Busser, Social Sciences)
- “Supporting Safe and Sustainable Community Dialogue Events for the CityLAB Semester in Residence” – (Sarah Whitwell, Community Engagement)
- “Cultivating Institutional Leadership Through Teaching & Learning Grants” – (Kris Knorr, MacPherson Institute)
Please review the full list of project descriptions, as interdisciplinary application and collaboration is highly recommended by the faculty and by the Student Partners Program.
How to Apply
To apply, identify your preferred project by reviewing the the Summer 2025 Project Description Document on Sharepoint. Then, when you are ready, fill out the Student as Partners Summer 2025 Application via Microsoft Forms.
