NEW Workshop: Introduction to Excel for Social Data

Excel is a commonly used spreadsheet software in the Canadian workforce, and many employers indicate a desire for this skill from Social Sciences students and recent graduates.

What Will You Learn?

This interactive workshop will cover fundamentals for interacting with social data in Microsoft Excel so you can: 

• gain familiarity and confidence using Excel, 
• use spreadsheet software effectively with qualitative data, and; 
• practice tips, tricks, and shortcuts to improve your productivity in Excel for the workplace and the classroom!

Who Should Attend?

Can you confidently add your level of Excel proficiency to your resume or do you dread being found out once you start the job? Do you want to learn Excel shortcuts so you can impress your boss (and yourself)? Join us!

The workshop is open to any undergraduate student registered in a Social Sciences degree program. Other students may attend if space allows.

Workshop Preparation &Technical Requirements

• Hybrid Workshop: While this is primarily delivered in-person, we will ask you to review some brief content in an Avenue course before the workshop. 
• Technical Requirements: A device with Microsoft Excel downloaded. If needed, please visit the McMaster’s Office 365 Hub and reach out to University Technology Services for software support before the workshop.
