The McMaster Exchange Program can allow you to travel and immerse yourself in another culture while continuing to earn credits toward your degree while studying at one of McMaster's exchange program partners.
McMaster has exchange agreements with partner institutions all over the world, meaning that your studies abroad can qualify for credit towards your degree progress here at home. You can review McMaster’s partnerships on the Student Exchange and Mobility List.
When you study abroad through one of McMaster’s formal exchange agreements, your tuition and supplementary fees are paid to McMaster, keeping the financial dimension simple and manageable.
To be eligible you must apply in your second year of a four-year Honours program (to go abroad in your third year) or third year of a five-year Honours program (to go abroad in your fourth year). You’ll need to have completed at least 60 units with a 7.0 CGPA.
Certain external program supports are available via some of McMaster’s external program collaborators:
The McCall MacBain International Fellowship Provides funding and support to students who spend a year abroad, divided into three terms: language, academic and work/internship.
The Killiam Fellowships Program provides an opportunity for exceptional undergraduate students from universities in Canada and the United States to spend either one semester or a full academic year as an exchange student in the other country.
The Faculty of Social Sciences has staff members who can guide you as you consider a study abroad experience with one of our exchange partners. Please review some of the basic details online, and then get in touch with the team with any questions or to get started!
