Social Sciences 2EL3 focuses on career preparation, job search, and career readiness. In this course you will review your career options, reflect on your skills and strengths, and compose a first-class resume and example cover letter to prepare for your next work experience.
This course is a newly evolved, unit-bearing version of the previous zero-unit version, Social Sciences 2EL0.
Any Social Sciences student in Level II or above is eligible to take this course. This includes students in Humanities and Arts & Science who are enrolled in a Combined Honours program of study in combination with a Social Sciences field. Each spring, eligible level I students who make a request to the Social Sciences office will also be granted permission to enrol in Summer term course offering following their first year of studies.
Social Sciences 2EL3 is an optional, elective course for most students, but is a required course for students in Social Sciences co-op program options.
For non-co-op students, 2EL3 is a pre-requisite for accessing job postings for the elective Social Sciences Internship program. The course material helps students to understand how to gain access to review Internship postings, manage the Internship application process, and enrol in the Internship courses (SOCSCI 3IF0 and/or SOCSCI 3IP0).
This course's formal description and enrolment details can be found in McMaster's undergraduate calendar.
